Nel 1908 Edoardo Pestelli, dopo gli inizi con il gioiellierie Marchesini, apre la prima gioielleria Pestelli nel centro storico di Firenze. Grazie ai suoi gioielli e all’argenteria in stile antico, diventa subito un punto di riferimento per l’alta borghesia dell’epoca. Nel 1911 partecipa alla fiera internazionale di Roma e inizia a esportare i propri gioielli in Europa e Stati Uniti.
Nel 1920 la gioielleria Pestelli si trasferisce in Via Tornabuoni a Firenze e – nel 1935 – nella prestigiosa Via Strozzi, a pochi passi dall’attuale sede fiorentina. Negli stessi anni Pestelli si afferma anche tra la nobiltà internazionale. Tra i vari clienti troviamo la casa Savoia, i reali di Romania, il vice re d’Egitto e il Vaticano.
Nel 1989 la gioielleria passa sotto la guida del bisnipote Tommaso Pestelli che – proseguendo la tradizione di famiglia – crea personalmente ogni opera insieme alla moglie Eva Aulmann. La ditta si trasferisce in Borgo SS. Apostoli, a pochi passi da Ponte Vecchio. Il marchio Pestelli intanto è venduto negli atelier di tutto il mondo: da Parigi a New York.
Nel 2011 la gioielleria Pestelli viene certificata “Impresa Storica Italiana”. Alcune creazioni di Tommaso Pestelli sono esposte nella collezione permanente di oreficeria presso il prestigioso Museo degli Argenti di Firenze. Nel 2018 – per i suoi 110 anni d’attività – la ditta Pestelli riceve il premio “DNA Artigiano” assegnato da Confartigianato.
Nel 2019 Pestelli vince il prestigioso Premio “Talents du Luxe et de la Création” a Parigi. Il premio, assegnato dal Centre du Luxe et de la Création di Parigi, premia ogni anno i talenti che si distinguono nelle categorie che definiscono la moderna concezione del lusso e Pestelli ha vinto il premio per la categoria “Elegance”.
Nel 2020 Tommaso Pestelli riceve il Premio “MAM – Maestro d’Arte e Mestiere” ed è inserito nel Libro d’Oro dell’Eccellenza Artigiana Italiana. Nello stesso anno è inserito nella prestigiosa Homo Faber Guide che raccoglie i migliori artigiani europei. A fine 2022 la ditta Pestelli Creazioni si trasferisce nella nuova e attuale sede in Via del Sole 22/r a Firenze.
Spettacolari e finissime, in qualche esito senza paragoni. Nella mia lunga carriera di esperto di metalli antichi ho diretto restauri e proposto acquisti allo Stato per salvaguardare le nostre opere più preziose. Tra cinquant'anni le creazioni di Pestelli meriteranno eguale trattamento.
