The fight of Nereid (in sterling silver, rock crystal, lapis lazuli, pearls, red coral, tourmaline)

Unique Piece – Designed and handmade by Pestelli Creazioni | Measurements: 25x20xh19 cm

A truly unique art object – designed and entirely handmade by Pestelli Creazioni – consisting of a rock crystal bowl supported by a sterling silver figure of an aquatic nymph posed on an irregular base of pure lapis lazuli mounted on sterling silver. Red coral, pink tourmaline and pearls decorate the base adding surprisingly contrasting colors to the piece.

The nymph carved in the work is inspired by a Nereid. In Greek mythology Nereids were marine nymphs, daughters of Nereo and Oceanina Doride. They were immortal and benevolent creatures. They took part, together with the Tritons, in the procession of Poseidon the god of the sea and were often represented as maidens with hair decorated with pearls, riding dolphins or sea horses.

The realization of this work took a long time and in the images below it is possible to see some stages of its complex processing.
