Flower meaning: Florence’s “lily” is in fact an iris, the wildflower that has always adorned the Tuscan hills.The connection is so strong that the city’s Heraldry copied its botanical structure, stylising it to forever bind the city’s political identity with its native flora. Beyond its aesthetic value, the roots of this flower are historically significant.Today, the Iris Garden at Piazzale Michelangelo celebrates this union, presenting the symbolic flower in the heart of Florence.
